This Sunday night is J SCOTT BROWNLEE’s book release for HIGHWAY OR BELIEF, featuring performances by Brownlee, Aziza Barnes, Sierra DeMulder, T Miller, and Lewis Mundt. Holy shit, that’s a lineup.

Here’s what Rachel McKibbens, judge of the 2013 Exploding Pinecone contest, has to say about Brownlee’s book:

“What I admire most about the poems of Highway or Belief is how they actively choose to leave no one behind; it is evident that Brownlee has devoted much of his craft to name and resurrect the small town casualties that our country would rather ridicule and forget. This is one of the few books that gets the working class right, and it will ring as gospel for anyone who has attempted to outrun the fractured places that will never leave them.”

If you’re in the Twin Cities, don’t miss out on Sunday’s event!

Ken Arkind - “God Box” (CUPSI 2014)

"Could you make this wheelchair feel like my father’s shoulders? Invent a makeup that prevents the bruises, instead of just covering them up?"

A haunting, powerful performance from the Penmanship Books Reading at CUPSI 2014. Buy Ken’s book here.
